Edythe joined the Buena Park Police Department’s Volunteer Citizen Assisting Police (C.A.P.) Program in 1999. During her membership she has contributed an excess of 6,800 volunteer hours. In 2001 she completed the Volunteer Training Course, hosted by the California Peace Officer Association. She received the Department’s Distinguished Service Award in 2006. Edythe received the Life Time Achievement Award from the President’s Council on Service in 2015, and has continued to serve as a volunteer accumulating over 500 hours in 2015. Because of her interest in public safety she has completed a number of First Aid and CPR Courses, and has taken the F.E.M.A. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy. She does not limit her volunteerism to the Buena Park Police Department; she is a registered District Committee Member of the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America. Edythe lives at Morningside of Fullerton, an independent living retirement facility in Fullerton, where she has been awarded their 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award, and 2013 Crystal Award for her continuing volunteer work for the residents. Edythe enjoys her life with her husband Don, also a volunteer with the Buena Park Police Department.
