Through his leadership and dedication to his profession Gregg serves as a role model for the current participants in the Exploring program. We feel he is a fine example of the work ethic and leadership development that the Explorers receive in the program. Gregg started his law enforcement career with the Irvine Police Department in June of 1992 as a Police Explorer. He rose through the ranks and became a police officer in April of 2002. In June of 2005, he lateralled to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

As early as three years old Gregg remembers wanting to be a police officer and he never wavered from that path. For eight years he worked in Court Operations as a Bailiff and as a correctional deputy in Custody Operations. In 2006 he became an associate Explorer Advisor for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Explorer POST 449. During his time as an advisor, Gregg has been honored with the Orange County Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association’s Golden Advisor award, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Advisor of the year award, and the Spurgeon AdvisoSurrell_Gregory (Deputy).Exploring2r of the year award. Currently he is the Division Advisor for the Yorba Linda division of POST 449. Gregg is also a board member for the Orange County Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association and for the past three years has served as board President. Gregg stated “I chose to be a part of the Explorer program because I was once an explorer and I wanted to give back to the program that helped me start my career.”
