Karl Kruger has been an active volunteer with the Orange County American Cancer Society since 2013. As the General Manager of the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach, Karl enthusiastically lends his leadership expertise to the ACS Orange County Regional Council. Prior to coming to Orange County, Karl and his wife, Nandy were active in the Seattle market chairing the ACS Gala, and supporting that event for several years. Currently, he is instrumental in driving strategies to promote the mission of ACS throughout the county. Karl generously provides meeting space for and in-kind support for both ACS Executive Receptions as well as our annual Celebration of Life Gala, significantly reducing our operating costs. Karl is an outstanding volunteer leader. Not only does he work diligently to create new relationships for ACS, he personally fundraises through a number of channels including our Celebration of Life Gala and Relay For Life. For the past two years, he has also been an active fundraiser for our annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in October, serving as a Team Captain for the Fairmont Hotel/Irvine Rotary team and securing over $8,000 in income. Karl is truly passionate about helping cancer patients, and his dream is to one day see an American Cancer Society Hope Lodge built in California. This is a facility for cancer patients and their caregivers to stay (at no charge) during their treatments. Karl has agreed to serve on the statewide planning committee as the vision of a Hope Lodge begins to takes shape. Karl is a true servant leader. His humility, passion and dedication to the American Cancer Society is a remarkable gift.
