Some of the words used to describe Marlys are: inspiring and hard-working. Marlys joined the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) in 2005 and has been instrumental in encouraging other people to get involved with the program during this time. Marlys inspires many RSVP’s to take a more active role in volunteering. She is an excellent example for all in reaching out to the public and to fellow RSVP’s. She is one of the trainers for new RSVP’s and does an outstanding job. Her dedication to the Huntington Beach Police Department is exemplary. She volunteers many hours and assists in many of our departments such as the Records Unit, Property Unit, Front Desk, Administrative Division, HB Neighborhood Watch, conducts Vacation House checks, special events, etc. showing her devotion to the Huntington Beach Police Department. Because of her involvement with these and many other things she does we find her a very valuable asset, inspiring others to follow her lead. The Huntington Beach Police Department is proud to have Marlys Dinnen volunteer in our RSVP program and thank her for her leadership and service.

Marlys you are like the “energizer bunny”; Just when you think you are here you are over there! Always you are an outstanding example of service to our community. It is a joy to partner with you doing house checks and just plain ol being around you. Your expertise in so many aspects of the departments needs and your willingness to respond to those needs makes you such a valuable asset to the Huntington Beach Police Department and the community at large. Congratulations on being selected as one of our Volunteers of the Year. Your dedication, support and all the hours you volunteer to this program, and the HBPD to help make our community a safer place is amazing. I know for various reasons you enjoy to be involved working in many departments but I also know it is because you truly have a big heart and care so much about helping others.
