Honoree: Ashley Reyes
Honored by: Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove
Cause Area: Youth Services
Ashley Reyes has been volunteering at our after school program at Wakeham Elementary for about 4 years and has completed over 1,100 volunteer hours. Ashley first joined our team as a dance coach volunteer, to help our former cheer team prepare for cheer competitions. Since the first week at our program, she built a bond with the children and decided to stay on as a volunteer during regular program activities. One year she volunteered over 400 hours and received the President’s Volunteer Service award. Ashley arrives to site with a positive attitude and the intention to make a positive impact in the children’s lives. She will often arrange her work schedule around the program’s schedule to be available to assist with special events. She sets a great example to the children and educates them about the importance of giving back to the community. Ashley also shares with them the importance of higher education and even shares what she learns at California State University, Fullerton. Ashley contributes to our program both in clerical aspects and in her daily interactions with the children. Her biggest contribution is the time she gives to the children while she is building meaningful relationships with them. Ashley is an invaluable member of our team here at Wakeham!
