Cause Area: Youth Services
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin are proud and honored to acknowledge the volunteer efforts of an exceptional Executive Board Member…Mike Immell. Mike began his commitment of 37 years in 1979 and has been instrumental in the growth and evolution of our organization. During his initial years volunteering at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin, Mr. Immell served as a coach for our intramural basketball league. Many youth who participate in this league typically lack the means to join extracurricular sports clubs, and our organization provides the training ground for these disadvantaged youth. As a coach, Mike built in his team skills and confidence that can be used in other aspects of their life. Many volunteers spend a few years in this coaching role before moving on to different pursuits, however, Mike did not stop there. As his professional career grew at Rutan & Tucker, so too did his executive ability and leadership for our Club. He has served in nearly every executive board position during his tenure at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin. He is also very active in our fundraising committees. Since 2012, Mike has served on our Gala Fundraiser Committee providing insight, guidance, and sponsorship that have led to consecutive net revenue growth for our most important fundraising event of the year. Moreover, he showed that giving should not just be an individual affair, but one for the entire family. In 2013, Mike introduced his successful daughter to our organization. She immediately fell in love with the program and now consistently supports Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin. It gives our organization great pleasure to nominate such an amazing man for the OneOC Spirit of Volunteerism Award. Mike Immell is an amazing individual who believes in the best for his community. His positive attitude and personal commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin serves as model for all community advocates to follow.
